Louise Poissant

Since October 1, 2015, Louise Poissant is Scientific Director of the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Société et culture (FRQSC).
She holds a Ph.D. in philosophy from the Université de Montréal. After teaching in the Department of Communication at the University of Ottawa, she continued as professor at the École des arts visuels et médiatiques of the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) for nearly 30 years. She also led the Centre interuniversitaire des arts médiatiques between 2001 and 2006, and was Dean of the Faculty of Arts at UQAM from 2006 to 2015. Louise Poissant is the author of numerous books and articles in the field of media arts published in various international journals in Canada, France and the United States.
In 2014, she was honoured by The Royal Society of Canada in recognition of her works, which contributed to the development of research creation in the media arts field. In 2015, she was admitted to the Cercle d’excellence of Université du Québec, a symbolic recognition awarded to professors, researchers and managers of the Université du Québec network for their remarkable contributions.
