To achieve its mission and objectives, the West Island Palliative Care Residence would like to develop, establish and measure impact of a “compassionate communities” model of support and care. A compassionate communities approach should strengthen community action, create supportive environments, and reorient health services to enable, mediate and advocate for all people who could benefit from holistic care, and their caregivers to optimize their quality of life, deal with loss, and improve population health.
PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVE
The purpose of this call for proposals is to identify and select a research project that will recommend, pilot, measure, and disseminate effective citizen-driven models that mobilize stakeholders in the community (community organizations, families, general public) interacting with healthcare organizations to support people and their families towards end of life in a holistic and compassionate way.
The research objective is to identify an adaptive framework for holistic and collaborative compassionate community care models to support individuals in the latter stages of life and across all living settings. This framework will have the potential to be scaled, transferred, integrated and sustained within any community in Québec or Canada.
A maximum of $500,000 over a five (5) years period is available for this competition (non-renewable). One project is to be funded through this initiative.
The Fonds de recherche du Québec – Santé (FRQS) will conduct the scientific merit review of the program. Therefore, complete application should be submitted to Michaël Bernier at FRQS.
