Gilles

Dr. Gilles Hudon holds medical degrees from Université Laval, Université de Montréal and the University of Minnesota in diagnostic radiology. He pursued his career at the Montréal Heart Institute (1977–2008) as an interventional radiologist, the chief of the radiology department and the chair of the Council of Physicians, Dentists and Pharmacists. He contributed to several clinical research projects led by the Heart Institute and to collaborative efforts involving international agencies (NIH). He also trained students and residents in radiology, cardiology and heart surgery and was appointed full clinical professor in the faculty of medicine of Université de Montréal.

From 1999 to 2012, Gilles Hudon served as the director of health policy and of the Office de développement professionnel of the Fédération de médecins spécialistes du Québec (FMSQ). He established several networks with academic (Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, Conseil québécois de développement professionnel continu des médecins), regulatory (Collège des médecins du Québec) and government (AETMIS, Conseil du médicament, CNFDU, FRSQ, INESSS, MSSS and RAMQ) organizations. He chaired the Comité Développement professionnel continu (DPC) of the FMSQ and led the continuous professional development five-year accreditation surveys of the CMQ and RCPSC in the 35 associations affiliated with the FMSQ. He spearheaded the FMSQ’s interdisciplinary training day, the Journée de formation interdisciplinaire (JFI), which today brings together over 1,000 medical specialists in all fields. Every year, the Prix Gilles-Hudon is awarded to recognize the outstanding contributions of a medical specialist to the continuous professional development of his or her colleagues.
