1. CONTEXT
Within the frame of an agreement with the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) The Fonds du Québec – Société et Culture (FRQSC) is willing to support researchers based in Quebec, to join research teams funded through the European platform Horizon2020.
SSHRC and the FRQSC encourage interested Canadian researchers to work directly with research teams from EU member states on the theme of migration within H2020 societal challenge 6: Europe in a changing world—Inclusive, innovative and reflective societies.

SSHRC will make one- to three-year awards valued at $75,000 to $200,000 available to researchers (affiliated with an eligible Canadian institution) on successful H2020 research teams. Subject to the availability of funds, each project may be granted up to the maximum eligible funding amount, $50,000 (indirect research costs in addition), from the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Société et culture. This amount is granted on the first year of the project.
2. OBJECTIVES
The purpose of this call for projects is to welcome international research collaboration to study issues such as the international protection of refugees and the integration of migrant children in hosting countries.
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) seeks to engage with Canadian researchers successful in this competition that are researching topics of high priority to the IRCC. Contact SSHRC for further details.

3. CONTEXT
To receive the FRQSC contribution, the project team must:
a) receive a grant from SSHRC as part of the Horizon 2020 Call – Migration
AND
b) have a minimum of one member of the project team, affiliated with a Quebec university establishment. This member can occupy the role of principal investigator, principal investigator, co-investigator or co-investigator. This person must meet the status of university researcher, as defined by the Common General Rules (CGR, p. 5).
Reminder : A University researcher is a person who:
a) receives a salary:
i) as a regular professor or a contracted professor, in a university recognized by the FRQ to manage funding, ii) as a full-time researcher, with a PhD., in a university-affiliated CIUSSS, CISSS or other public institution within the health and social services network that is recognized by the FRQ to manage funding;
AND
b) is affiliated with a Québec university in which he/she is qualified to act as the sole supervisor of graduate students1 and independently lead research projects.1
1. The following also qualify for university researcher status: Individuals at the beginning of their career who meet criteria a) and hold a position that will enable them to meet criterion b) pending the end of administrative processes and delays; Individuals who are retired from a recognized institution who no longer meet criterion a) and who continue to pursue research or supervision activities in the institution, from which they have obtained a formal commitment.
4. FUNDING AND CONDITIONS
The conditions of use of this additional amount allocated by the FRQSC are subject to the Common General Rules (CGR). Section 8 of the CGR details eligible and non-eligible expenses. These conditions are also subject to FRQSC policies, such as the FRQ Open Access Policy for the Dissemination of Research, the Policy for the Responsible Conduct of Research and FRQ Knowledge Mobilization Strategy (in French).
