Award-winning publicationConceptualising access in the direct-acting antiviral era: An integrated framework to inform research and practice in HCV care for people who inject drugs

Abstract

The study led by Stine Hoj aims to enhance the understanding of accessibility of hepatitis C care for people who use injection drugs in an effort to steer research and practices toward strategies to increase treatment rates in the population. Based on theory and empirical evidence, the paper outlines a new conceptual framework paired with concrete examples to demonstrate how traditional notions of eligibility—a theorical right to treatment—in no way reflect the reality of patients navigating their way through the health care system and determine actionable intervention resources.
