Québec, May 17, 2022 – In follow-up to the initiative by the Chief Scientist of Québec launched on March 14 to support the Ukrainian and Russian student communities, the Fonds de recherche du Québec (FRQ) are announcing the details of a second component: the scholarship program for members of the Ukrainian and Russian student communities.

In collaboration with Québec’s universities and colleges, the FRQ aim to support the institutions that will open their doors to masters (two years), doctoral (three years) and postdoctoral (three years) students and offer research internships and training in practice settings (two to six months).

The first component of the initiative sought to support the Ukrainian and Russian students, postdoctoral fellows and researchers in Québec who hold an FRQ scholarship or grant by extending the funding periods that were set to end in the coming year.

“It is important that the FRQ and their university and college partners provide scholarship and internship opportunities to talented Ukrainian and Russian students outside Québec who are affected by the conflict in Ukraine. This initiative will foster the development of scientific ties between members of the new generation of experts from Québec, Ukraine and Russia, which can only benefit our communities.”
